Education Support

We are very lucky in the UK with an advanced education system that is compulsory by law for all. Our school buildings in the UK are welcoming and comforting for all. Can you imagine sending your children to school where there is no building, no shade from the sun, no desks, no chairs and no comfortable floors? This is nothing new in the life of children all over India especially in poverty-stricken areas of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, West Bengal and many more areas.

Friends For You trustees have visited many areas with no schools and found that conditions of existing schools and hostels are not fit for children to be in. They have no equipment, books, uniform or footwear. Some of these schools and hostels have no toilets or bathrooms for the children. Those that reside in hostels sleep in the cold with a single blanket in rooms with a stone floor and some with no windows. The kitchen is filthy with mice, rats and insects crawling around.

We need your help to provide as much help as we can to ensure that children are educated to their potential and provide a healthier and safe environment for them to learn.

Some of these children are orphans and are very poor. Most of the children’s families cannot afford fees to pay for their children’s education, and therefore they choose not to send them to school. Instead, they send them to work in the fields or to work in cafes/shops to earn for the family often working up to 12 hours a day. Friends For You are sponsoring many orphans and poor children in hope to build a better future for them. We hope one day that these are the children who will bring some comfort to their families in the future.
